Embryo Donation Treatment Process

Embryo Donation Treatment Process

Embryo donation involves fertilizing donor sperm and donor eggs in the laboratory and transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus of the mother-to-be to achieve pregnancy.

It is an option for:

  • Couples with no chance of conceiving with their own eggs and sperm

  • Couples where no viable eggs or sperm can be retrieved

  • Couples with genetic disorders that prevent the possibility of having a healthy child

  • Couples who cannot develop quality embryos with their own eggs and sperm despite multiple attempts

  • Couples with repeated failed IVF attempts

Before starting treatment, you will be given detailed information about the routine tests required. After your test results are evaluated by our doctor, a personalized treatment plan will be created.

If the mother-to-be is menstruating, uterine preparation begins on day 2 or 3 of her cycle. If not, medication begins on a date set according to the treatment plan. Hormonal tablets or patches are used to thicken and prepare the uterine lining for transfer. This treatment continues for about two weeks, during which time ultrasound monitoring of the endometrium and hormone tests are required.

Donor eggs and sperm are chosen to match the physical features of the parents. When the donor’s eggs are ready, the egg collection day is scheduled, and on the same day, certified sperm chosen according to the father’s characteristics is used for microinjection. The embryo transfer is then planned based on embryo development. After scheduling the transfer day, embryos are placed into the uterus under laboratory guidance.

For this treatment, you only need to come to our center for the transfer itself, staying in Northern Cyprus for just one day.

On the day of transfer, no anesthesia is required. After the procedure, your prescribed medications will be explained in detail. Twelve days later, a blood test (BHCG) is performed to confirm pregnancy.

Our Donor Selection Process

When selecting egg donors, we follow international quality standards. Donors are matched according to the physical features and blood type of the couple. Donors are young, healthy individuals without fertility issues, who have undergone comprehensive health and genetic testing.

  • All donors are screened for Thalassemia and Cystic Fibrosis, and all other medical tests are regularly repeated to ensure donors are not carriers of common genetic diseases.

  • All donors undergo RECOMBINE testing, which can analyze more than 250 genes, 250+ genetic disorders, and 2,000+ mutations. These tests reduce the risk of miscarriage after transfer, help prevent recurrent pregnancy loss, increase the chance of success, and eliminate the risk of transmitting hereditary diseases.

  • When necessary, we recommend the Invitae Comprehensive Carrier Screening (up to 569 genes), which ensures protection against genetic disorders and is suitable for all ethnic backgrounds.

At our center, donor and recipient identities are strictly confidential. According to law, identities are never shared, and confidentiality is always ensured.

Sperm Sources

Sperm used for embryo donation are imported from Cryos International (Denmark), the world’s largest and most reliable sperm bank founded in 1981, and from the European Sperm Bank, with all special certifications and transported in nitrogen tanks.

These sperm samples come with detailed certifications including genetic and infectious disease tests, psychological assessments, and full family history screenings.

For each patient, more than 10 high-quality (M2) mature donor eggs are fertilized with donor sperm chosen according to the father’s characteristics. Depending on the patient’s age and condition, usually two high-quality embryos are transferred, while any remaining good-quality embryos are frozen for the patient.

Treatment Standards and Support

All treatments are carried out with digital privacy and confidentiality protocols. No patient information is shared with third parties (family, institutions, or others).

Because egg donors are young (ages 20–28), the pregnancy rate in embryo donation is significantly higher compared to standard IVF — reaching 80% or more depending on the patient.

Our clinic stands out with its experienced, well-referenced team, advanced technologies, and ethical, high-quality care that has been sustained for many years.

We also support our patients with travel and accommodation arrangements. Patients may organize their own travel, hotel, and taxi services, or we can arrange these services on their behalf at no extra cost.

Stay Healthy,
